The FERC Process |
The US Government's Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is the agency which grants licenses for hydro-electric and other energy projects. There are many steps and the entire process can take years. After FERC and the cooperating agencies issue their decisions, State of California agencies, such as the Water Resources Control Board, may also review the project.
NOTE: This schedule is subject to change as the process continues. Get on the FERC mailing list for updates.ScopingCurrently the project is in the step called "Scoping." Scoping is the gathering of information used to create the list of categories to be studied. Each step has its own opportunity for specific public comment and general comments are welcome at any time. If you have additional material you may comment more than once. Anyone can be on the mailing list to receive notices of the steps in the process. Sign up online for email notification or telephone Susan O'Brien.
